GRADUATION!

Even though there are no jobs . . .  I still get to graduate!!! 

Here is one of my home-made, do it yourself announcements.  I wasn't about to pay $70 dollars for the official ones.  Instead, it only cost my $30 dollars and a couple hours of my time!  

Plus, I wanted to personalize the message in my announcements.  I didn't like the formal wording (not to mention forced praises to your school)  that you get when you buy direct from the university. 

I also included a picture of me in all my announcements.  It was another DIY project with the pictures taken by my personal photographer at the tulip farms in.  Thanks, Charlotte.

Will they let me teach?

I'm sorry but I have to complain just for a moment.  I went into a lot of debt this year to becoming a teacher.  Some days after eight hours of student not listening and yelling "What should I be doing?" because they were not listening, I want to cry.  But I try to remain positive because there are the moment when I get a random hug or a student starts to understand that I remember why I wanted to be a teacher.  

But does any of it matter. . . there are no teaching jobs in Oregon.  School district are even putting holds on hiring substitutes.  SIGN!  I finally decide what I want to be and then the economy takes a dive.  

Anyone looking for an over qualified babysitter?  

I will be available starting June 15, 2009.

Despite the stress of it all I am still managing to have fun.  My latest silly fun.  Finding the Ramona park in Portland and taking my picture with Risby.  I am even reading Ramona the Pest to my first grade class.  

Now it is back to my homework and I am going to try to leave the stress of my unemployment here on the blog.  It's therapeutic. 

TULIP FARM

We started a farm unit in school today. As we brainstormed ideas about farms one of the girls suggested that flowers can be found on a farm.  This caused some of the less polite kiddos to laugh at her answer.  

I put a stop to that by telling the little stinkers that I had just spent the weekend at a tulip farm . . . flowers do belong on the farm and the are unbelievable gorgeous. 

A Laws Wedding!

That right a Laws child got married!  It was a beautiful grey Oregon day when Tyler and Heather tied the knot and my family grew by one.  We are all excited that Ty found the one to share forever with and that we like her too!

"Katie Likes To"

Lauren did this on her blog and I though it was pretty funny. So I decided to try it myself and googled "Katie likes to" and this was the results. 

Katie likes to drive go-carts and collects stamps. Her favorite food is spaghetti with meatballs AND vegetables. Don't ever tell Katie she can't do something because she's a girl! Katie will show you that she can! Katie likes to say that she teaches "domesticity for dummies."  Katie likes to run around in cotton panties and a crown. Katie likes to be in pictures. Katie likes to help in the kitchen.  Katie likes to be silly too!  Katie likes to eat pistachios, play frisbee, nap, and imagine what life would be like if humans didn't have thumbs, in that order.  Katie likes to add a little frill or lace to her dress

SNOW IN OREGON!

It is snowing in Oregon and it's COLD.  Which means no school!!!!!!  One of the amazing perks of being a teacher is . . . random days off.  Of course this summer when I have to stay in school for an extra week I may not feel the same.  But today and this week I am going to enjoy the SNOW DAYS!!!   It great to be a teacher.  Not to mention the snow is absolutely gorgeous when you don't have to go out in it and you can stay warm at home.    Hope you are all enjoy your holiday and holiday weather.  

I went to my 10 year reunion in October. I am SO glad that high school is long over. I made the discovery that all the people I cared about were still in my life I didn't need a special night to see them. That was a good moment, realizing I kept in touch with those that matter most. The best part of the night was that it gave me a good excuse to buy a new dress. Yeah, overall not that impressed with the night but at least we looked hot!
